Hi,

We would like to buy the Event grid view template but want to be sure that we can customize it to fit our needs. Here is what we like to do. We want to have the event details below the image, not showing on hover. We also have rectangle featured images not square and we don’t like the images to be cropped.
Will this be possible by modifying the CSS?

We have made a template for the single event view. Will that work with the add on?

Thanks

Henrik

Will this be possible by modifying the CSS?

Not with just CSS, but you can use the current templates as a base to build your own custom template. Then the template Add-on will load this template if you place it within wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates/ with the same name as the default template.

We have made a template for the single event view. Will that work with the add on?

Do you mean using that single event view template for each event as a grid? Or continue to use the single event view when you click onto the actual event?

I mean use the single event view template when you click on the actual event in the grid.

But what would be most easy. Build a custom template on Grid view template or by buiiding a template with the archive event espresso template?

Hi Henrik,

By default, events will be shown on the /events/ archive page (archive-espresso_events.php) in a list format. Clicking on one of those events will then take you to a single events page (single-espresso_events.php).

The events grid template and then events table view template are two additional ways to display your events to your registrants/attendees. These use their own templates which can be customized as Tony shared.

If you customize the archive-espresso_events.php file, then your default /events/ slug would appear different. If you edit the events grid template or the events table view template, then you could keep your existing archive styling and create a new page using one of the shortcodes?

Does this help provide some options for you?

Here are some examples of what editing the events table view template would look like:

Hi Lorenzo,

Just so that I understand you correct. The event grid template and the event table view template will take me to the same single event page as the archive page do when clicking on an event? Correct?

What I want to achieve i is a grid view list for events. I want rectangular images and the event title under the image. The add on event grid view seemed to be the most easiest way to accomplish that with some editing. But If my assumption is wrong I wanted to know if it’s then easier to edit the archive event list template instead.

Yes you are correct. The archive listing pages or one of the template add-ons will take you to the single event page when the event information is clicked.

Event archive listing –> Single event page
Calendar tooltip –> Single event page
Events Grid view template –> Single event page
Events Table view template –> Single event page

The events grid view template would be the closest option for getting started:
