With the entire EE4 product line, is it possible to customize it in such a way so that, as you release updates, the custom work is not lost? Do you offer any documentation for how to create overrides? Is there a best practice? Thanks.

Hi Eric,

It really depends on what you want to override.

Event Espresso has plenty of hooks through the core plugin and the add-ons themselves. If you use a Custom Functions Plugin to hook into EE and make your changes those modifications will be safe from updates.

If you want to override the templates used within EE you can place a copy of the template within the root directory of your theme (or preferably a child theme) and modify the template there. EE will check your themes directory for any custom templates and load those instead of the defaults, so again those would be safe from EE updates.
