It has come to our attention that a few of our customers have been receiving registration confirmation emails upon adding events to cart, but without registering. Obviously this is confusing for the customer, to be registered before they have paid. Any idea why this might be happening?
In your WordPress admin > Event Espresso General Settings > Email Settings. Change the “Send registration confirmation emails before payment is received?” to “No”.
I changed that setting because when customers elected to pay by check, they did not receive a confirmation email. Customers who charged by credit card did. Is there a way to fix this?
It turns out that they are registering without paying when they choose to pay by check. We have two email options in place to cover these scenarios:
1) You prefer to send the confirmation email after they’ve filled out the registration form.
2) You prefer to send the confirmation email after the payment is made.
In both of the two above cases, the confirmation email isn’t sent when an event is added to the cart because they haven’t entered an email address to send to on the registration form yet.
Right, but this doesn’t solve my problem, because I don’t want pay by check customers to not receive an email nor to receive one when they add it to cart. Either way is confusing- to receive when adding to cart or not to receive because they paid by check.
When would you propose they get sent an email? Again, the email does not get sent out when they add an event to the cart. It gets sent after they fill out the registration form.
I would like the customer to receive a registration confirmation after they confirm their check payment at check out, just like our credit card customers do. Is this possible?
You can set the “Send registration confirmation emails before payment is received?” option in the General Settings page to Yes.
