You’ll need to edit the ticket template and add some inline styles to the template.
Go to Event Espresso -> Messages -> Default message templates.
Find the ticket template there.
If the same image is being used for all tickets you can edit the default template, if you want different images based on the event the ticket is for, you’ll need a custom ticket template for each and then you select that ticket template in the event itself.
In the editor switch to text mode and find the div with class ‘ticket’.
Add a style attribute to that element and set a background image to use:
