I am creating a new event for my client (it is the second one with EE). I’m trying to edit the custom notifications, but when I do my test send, it only pulls in the first event we did with EE. I want it to pull in the new event’s details.
How can I see test email notifications with the correct event data?
You need to edit the message template from the event you want to use (or pass the evt_id param in the URL).
Edit the new event and scroll to the bottom of the page, you should see the ‘Notification’ section.
In the email tab, select your custom payment received message template in the dropdown and then click Edit.
That will open the message editor for that custom template and you’ll notice in the URL it will have &evt_id=xxx, that tell’s EE what event to use in relation to any test email you may trigger.
Thanks Tony. I’ve done this from here: https://share.getcloudapp.com/OAul1l94, but the test send still has the old event where I have the [EVENT_LIST] shortcode in the email.
edit_message_template&id=26&evt_id=13789 from the custom email URL. The event ID matches the event ID from the event page URL: ?page=espresso_events&action=edit&post=13789
My apologies, its the previews that will use that value, not the test send.
If you do the above and then click the preview link at the top you’ll see a preview using the event in question but the test send will not use that currently.
The only way to test a live email as it stands would be to assign the template to an event and run test registration on that event to trigger it.
Ooohh, okay. I do see it populating correctly in the preview mode. Thank you for your help.
