Custom invoice question

for an event i realise you can customise the invoice and receipt etc – however If i have an event that offers payment via paypal and also chq – with the latter attracting an admin fee – how can i create a custom invoice for the chq payment to include the admin fee please?

Hi there,

You can not setup invoice templates for specific payment methods, they are assigned to each event but not each payment method.

What you need is the ability to add a surcharge to the registration if the user selects a specific payment method (in this case Cheque/Check) however EE does not currently include this feature.

It is possible to add this feature with some custom coding, we have an example of how to do this using the Invoice payment method adding a 10% surcharge here:

That could be modified to add a surcharge using the Check payment method but depending the type of surcharge you need you may need the help of a developer.

thanks – is there an easy way to add a cash on the day payment method please?

The easiest way it to change one of the ‘offline’ payment methods you do not currently use within within EE, (for example the ‘Bank Draft’ payment method) to suit your use case.

So you could go to Event Espresso -> Payment Methods -> Bank Draft.

Change the fields to be more suitable for ‘Cash on Arrival’ type of payment method and use that.

thanks Tony – we use the Bank option and Check and Paypal – so which other one could i use?

also if I am offering classes that use paypal and cheque options – how can i offer workshops at the same time that dont use paypal and cheque but use cash on the day?

Are you using the Invoice payment method? You can use any offline payment method as you just need something for the user to select and finalize the registration.

am not using the invoice payment method so I could use that….but i need to test the add on you mentioned so I can select payment methods for different events that are advertised at the same time…thanks
