Someone helped me with some php last year using EE3 to create attendee lists that displayed more than just the name.
Now I am using EE4, do you know if the same code will work?
Also, where are the php files for the attendee list for EE3 and EE4?

None of the code provided for EE3 will work within EE3.
EE3 uses the this template – \event-espresso\templates\attendee_list.php
You can copy this to wp-content\uploads\espresso\templates\ and EE3 will load that custom version.
EE4 uses multiple templates from within \event-espresso-core-reg\public\Espresso_Arabica_2014\
The first being loop-espresso_event_attendees.php to load the main content, then content-espresso_event_attendees.php.
Again you can copy these to \wp-content\uploads\espresso\templates\ and modify them there to add further details.
However the attendee details are pulled in a different way with EE4, it depends on what details you want to display as to what you need to do and if you can actually do it using that shortcode.
