Hello
I have an issue when payments are made using Paypal, currency will shift to USD without making the necessary currency exchange. For example, I set the country and currency options to UAE (AED), and lets say the ticket is valued at 100 AED. When a payment is made through Paypal, the customer will pay 100 USD instead. I need a solution for this please even if this require to pay for premium support.

Hello,

PayPal should convert from the buyer’s currency into your actual currency.

Could you provide a link to one of your events so we can share feedback?

This is my event link, If you select to buy any ticket you will see all prices in AED currency but when you select to pay using paypal the system takes you to paypal payment page showing same price but in dollars! I need to have small script to convert currency from AED to dollars when passing information to paypal for payment. I dont mind paying for this is this requires a premium support from your side but I need this very urgent.

Hello again,

Thanks for the link. I see that your payments are in AED from Event Espresso to PayPal as we use the currency in the currency code parameter:

https://cl.ly/3D3E0M2Y1O3o

However, on arriving to PayPal.com it is showing as USD.

I’ve tested this locally and I’m seeing the same issue.

I tested other countries and I am seeing it hold the currency:

Sweden: https://cl.ly/1u1A280j161d

Mexico: https://cl.ly/1U000p3T190n

According to these pages:

https://developer.paypal.com/docs/classic/api/currency_codes/#id09A6G0U0GYK

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_4217#Active_codes

…a currency code of AED is valid so I’m not sure why PayPal is switching the currency code on the payment page.

I’ve reached out to PayPal support for feedback. You may also want to reach out to them as well.

Hello
Kindly advice what is the status for this issue ?
I need a solution for it or any work around you may suggest.
Till now I didn’t start promoting my event and this is causing lots of problems for my business. Even if you can create a custom solution for me or assign this request to a developer to fix it for me and I don’t mind paying for this premium support

Hello,

I have not heard back from PayPal support and this does not appear to be an issue in Event Espresso.

We are sending AED through the currency code parameter (https://cl.ly/3D3E0M2Y1O3o) which is the correct action based on their documentation. However, on PayPal’s end it is being changed to USD.

Have you reached out to PayPal.com support as well?
