Credit card info is not loading at checkout – Happened after recent update

Hi! No one is able to enter any credit card information at checkout!

Updated to newest EE updates and the checkout page is now not showing the credit card area from braintree. If you refresh the page it will load.

Hello,

There is a JavaScript error appearing during registration checkout. Have you recently installed any new plugins on the site?

Does the issue happen when only Event Espresso 4 and Braintree are enabled?

The only change was updating the Event Espresso updates a few days ago. Everything was working fine before that. There are no new plugins.

Hi,

The credit card area is still not appearing/working. We have had to turn away people for classes this weekend because we have no way for them to pay.

Please help!

Hi Lee,

I’ve been looking over your site, currently there is a JS error on your pages – http://take.ms/60LIo

Do you know where that code is from? The Braintree add-on relies heavily on JS, if theres an error it can cause problems.

Hi We’ve had that for a long time and it never had any errors with braintree, I just removed it and the problem is still there.

Hi Lee,

We just pushed EE4.8.37.p which should resolve this for you.

If the update does not show on your site currently you can go to:

Event Espresso -> General Settings.

Make no changes and just save the settings, that will force EE to check for updates.

Run through the one click update and retest this to see if fixes the Braintree payment method.

Hi,

We did everything above. The credit card area now appears however it will not accept a credit card payment. After entering all credit card info and pressing the “pay now” button the button goes from red to grey and nothing happens. Registration status turns up as payment failed.

Does that happen for a valid credit card number while it’s set to live payments (not debug) mode?

Yes the last screen shot I provided was with a valid credit card at a live checkout

I saw there was an plugin update for Event Espresso – Braintree Gateway (EE 4.8.23+) Version 1.0.2.p

So I updated the plugin and did another registration and when I enter in the credit card number, exp date, CVV code and click pay now the wheel spins and then all the credit card info (number, Exp Date and CVV) disappears. The transaction does not complete and on the back end of the system it creates a registration but it says failed (pending payment).

Hi Lee,

May I ask if you have the Braintree payment method set to debug mode? If so, debug mode should be set to No. Also, can you try a payment after clearing your browser’s cache?

Hi Josh, Debug mode is set to ‘NO’

I cleared my browsers cache and it still did not work. It’s not connecting to Braintree after entering the CC info.

If the update caused your credit card form to no longer work, then for now I can recommend reverting to version 4.8.35.p which you can download a copy via this link. Please let us know if reverting to the prior version helps.

Will we loose customization’s?

Normally you shouldn’t lose any customizations by changing to a new or slightly older version of Event Espresso, unless you’ve altered the core plugin directly.

Ok, so I reverted to version 4.8.35.p and cleared the browser cache. Still not connecting at the end when I click pay now to finalize the payment. Can I please get the previous version of the Braintree Payment Gateway plug in?

The previous version can be download from this link. If your website is not connecting to Braintree with any version, then you can check with the host to see if they’ve made any changes to the server configuration eg the cURL module or the firewall.
