Hi there,

I manage Full Contact and we have used the free version of EE4 to sell our tickets since August. Once we discovered the multiple event plug-in with the upgrade, we couldn’t wait to upgrade.

Now I’m trying to figure out how to use this function to enable our delegates to sign up for their own workshops and create their own schedules.

I’ve tried creating the event separately, creating them by level, by tutor etc and I can’t find a good way to do this, especially as they seem to create in one massive list, not in a schedule view like I have used another plug-in.

Can you please advise how you would recommend I do this? At this stage I’m not feeling like this plug in is what I hoped it would be for the price.

Thanks,
Ruth

Hi Rachael,

You could use the events calendar add-on and add events to various event categories through the event editor. Then a registrant/attendee will be able to click to view a specific category or they could browse through all events.

Can I set the calendar to view a set date range? My event is in February and the calendar defaults to today (December) and I don’t want my delegates having to scroll through to find the event date.

Also can I hide categories? I have a promo ticket category that I don’t want everyone to see on the calendar.

Hello again,

Yes, there is a new parameter for that. Try this:

[ESPRESSO_CALENDAR month=02 year=2016]

We’ll need to see the calendar page to see the categories but yes you can hide certain categories.

Thanks

Thanks Lorenzo, that worked perfectly for only displaying my February events.

I’ve set the category to “Builder” with this code [ESPRESSO_CALENDAR event_category_id=”Builder”] but it’s still showing all of my events.

Actually, it’s showing all events BUT the ones in the “Builder” category?

Hi Rachael,

Is the page are you using [ESPRESSO_CALENDAR event_category_id=”Builder”]?

The reason I ask is the Calendar is initially loading Feb 2016 and does show the event within your Builder category in Jan, so looks like that page is using:

[ESPRESSO_CALENDAR month=02 year=2016]

Would would match the output.

If you’ve swapped out the shortcode so your visitors see all of your events could you create a new page page using the shortcode you had issues with and link us to that page so we can view this please?

Currently the only event in my “builder” category is “Jamming with Scald Eagle”, the other events aren’t. How can I remove the other ones?

Using the shortcode:

[ESPRESSO_CALENDAR event_category_id=Builder]

Should display events only within the Builder category.

Is this the full shortcode you are currently using?

[ESPRESSO_CALENDAR event_category_id=Builder month=02 year=2016]

(If you currently have ” or ‘ around the values you can remove those, they are only needed if the value has a space)

Perfect with [ESPRESSO_CALENDAR event_category_id=Builder month=02 year=2016] thanks so much!

Ok sorry a couple more things.

Instead of viewing the month, can I set it to a day or week instead?

Once I’ve added an event to my cart, it takes me back to the event list, which has all my events on it. Can I redirect this so when my customer selects “Return to event list” it returns to the “Build my schedule” page instead?

Hi Rachael, there isn’t a parameter to go to a specific week or day. That is only available for month and year at this time.

The events list link can be changed using a filter:

https://gist.github.com/joshfeck/e51ac13a3d9fd345ad40#file-change_event_list_url-php

It can be added to your child theme’s functions.php file or a site specific plugin.

OK that’s fine, thanks, I’ll leave it set as month.

I still have this problem though…

Once I’ve added an event to my cart, it takes me back to the event list, which has all my events on it. Can I redirect this so when my customer selects “Return to event list” it returns to the “Build my schedule” page instead?

Hi Rachael,

Yes, you can do that. Please see the sample filter that I shared earlier:

https://gist.github.com/joshfeck/e51ac13a3d9fd345ad40#file-change_event_list_url-php

It can be added to your child theme’s functions.php file or a site specific plugin. Then change the example URL that is there to your actual page and save changes.
