EE 4.6.4p & WP 4.1 I need to sell tickets for a concert which is performed twice – once on Friday and once on Saturday. I need to have 2 ticket types, Standard for £12 and Concession for £10. I have set the 2 dates in the Datetimes panel, and have created my two ticket types, but when I view the event in the front-end, I do not see an option to select which date I wish to purchase the tickets for. I only see the 2 ticket types at the top of the page with both dates underneath (but not selectable). In previous systems that I have used, and in EE3 with the multiple event and reg and recurring events add-ons, I was able to select the date and then select the ticket type, but I can’t seem to work out how to get EE4 to do this. Thanks |
Hello Peter, Did you try creating a ticket for each different day? Example: http://www.screencast.com/t/VbbsP8lo Start by creating the two datetimes. Then create two tickets, one for each day, with each ticket assigned to a corresponding datetime. Here’s an info-graphic that may help: Please let me know if that helps at all.

Thanks Seth, but are you sure that’s the correct way to do this? I also have a client that I am considering using EE4 for. They run an prestigious art exhibition over 5 days, and have around 10 different ticket types. Are you honestly telling me that I am expected to create 50 ticket types for the event?!? That is simply not reasonable. Every other system that I have evaluated in the past before settling on EE3 (with the 2 addons I mentioned) allow you to create just the base ticket types and then have them on sale for each separate day. If that is the case, then I will have to abandon EE4 and look elsewhere for both my own concert requirements and for my other client! |
For the concert, you would have four tickets: Friday ticket A, Friday ticket B, Saturday ticket A, Saturday ticket B. For the art exhibit, you could just create separate events (one for each date) and then the same 10 ticket options for each date/event. You can clone one event to create another event too to make things easier. |

Thanks Garth, yes it’s not so much of a problem for a 2 day concert, but I don’t really think 5 separate events for the art exhibition is acceptable either. Sure, it’s less of a mess than having 50 different ticket types, but it still means that I have to maintain 5 separate events and, if the description changes, then I have to edit 5 different event posts to make the same changes 5 times. No, I don’t find that acceptable. Like I said before, other systems (and, indeed, EE3 with the addons) manages to work by having just the one event with one set of ticket types, so I’m afraid that I will have to abandon EE. Which is a shame, but at least I have found this out before my license expires at the end of this month, and I haven’t as yet recommended EE to my art fair client, so no time nor money wasted there either! Thanks |
Sorry to hear that. Please keep us in mind for the future, as our features evolve to adapt to different business models. |
