I am sorry to start another thread with this issue but I could not see any solutions so here goes. The registrations system does not send confirmation emails regularly, it does so only sporatically. I can confirm that WordPress has no issues sending emails and if I manually resend the email it goes through no problem, as do test emails from the messages admin section. The confirmation email sends perhaps 20% of the time. I do not wish to use an external service for my email (FYI Mandril is $10/month as far as I can tell not free) |

Hi Lisa, The emails are only triggered once you reach the thank you page, which is after the user provides all details and clicks the ‘Finalize Registration’ button. So just to confirm if you run a test registration are you competeing all steps and getting through to the thank you page? (the page that shows confirmation) Are these free or paid events? Which Payment gateways do you have active? When you manually resend the email, does every copy of the email go through? For example if you resend the email 5 times within 60 seconds, do you receive all emails? Event Espresso basically just issues a command to wp_mail() in the same way standard WP emails do, this then passes the email off to your server which can do any number of steps. Which means if there is an issue with the emails not sending it is most likely due to an issue with the hosts mailserver (which is why we recommend Mandill or PostMark as you can usually be sure they are configured correctly)
Your right, that’s a recent change that went unannounced by Mandrill (well actually it changed as of 2015-07-15 according to this edited blog post) Postmark still provide 25k free emails on signup: |

I installed an email logger and the issue is def not with Event Espresso but rather the mail server blocking the mail. I installed an SMTP plugin, Postman SMTP. It was free and is working so far 100% as it sends authenticated SMPT mail just like a desktop mail client would. It features an easy setup wizard and even helps with google mail’s security api setup. Have a look as this may be a good solution to others with mail issues. Thank you for creating a great piece of software and for being so helpful with customer who have issues. Your attentiveness is appreciated. |
