Confirmation email when payment is complete

Hi there
We’re having an issue with confirmation emails. What we have are events that are paid conference calls. We setup a custom email for each event so that when someone registers they will automatically be sent the info to get into the conference call. The problem we are having is we only want people to get that confirmation email once they have paid. It seems EE is sending the email whether or not people complete their registration and payment. Is there any way to adjust this behavior so they get the confirmation email only when they have completed payment?

Hi Emily,

I placed a registration on your test event (stopping at PayPal) and did not receive a confirmation email.

By default the emails should only be triggered once you reach the Thank-you page with a complete payment.

Can you go to Event Espresso -> General Settings -> Email Settings.

Is the option ‘Send registration confirmation emails before payment is received?’ currently set to ‘No’?

Hi,

The custom emails in the event editor are for Registration, not necessarily payment.

EE3 does allow you to customise the Payment email via the general settings, but this is a site wide email so may not be suitable as it cannot be tailored to each event.

You can of course hold the registration email back until payment is complete, via the “Send registration confirmation emails before payment is received?” option in the General Settings.

As a note, EE4 allows greater flexibility and customisation of the emails and messages.
