Hello,
I am building a conference registration form, and am feeling lost as to how to achieve the result I am looking for.
There are three purchasing options – Member, Non member, and Student. Each of these will have a different price, but will be able to choose from courses that are the same (apart from some limitations on the student registrant).
Each of these courses has a limited number of seats available.
How do I set up these courses with their dates and times so they are selectable once the registrant has chosen whether they are a member, non-member or student?

Hi there,

I get the feeling you are expecting EE to work differently than it does, so to confirm, may I ask how you are expecting users to select if they are member, non-member or student?

With EE each course would be an event and you would have 3 ticket options ‘Member’, ‘Non-member’, ‘Student’ for them to select from.

Or, you can use a membership plugin and have the select a membership which makes them either one of those options and you can limit the ticket selection to only show the relevant ticket for the event, but either way each course would usually be a separate event.

Am I unable to have the tickets together with the event datetimes?

Can you expand on this, please?

A ticket within EE grants access to the datetimes it is assigned to, so you can (and must) have tickets and datetimes within the event, however, it sounds like you are expecting EE to function differently than it does.

Once the user has picked a ticket for what they are (member, etc), to get tickets for each of the events, I’m not sure how to do this.

Looking at your event, I’m guessing you want the user to have the ability to register onto any of the 3 datetimes as either a student, member or non-member, is that right?

The user doens’t select a ticket and then select a datetime, a ticket gives them access to a datetime (or multiple datetimes).

Can you run through how you see the above event working, the user selects say a ‘Member’ ticket, then what? What should it display?

(Note that again I don’t think EE works in the way you are expecting, but if I know more about what you are trying to do I can advise how/if EE can fit that use case)

Oh, I see.

I want the user to select which they are for payment – member, non member or student – and then choose the courses they want. Not sure if this is possible with EE – if not, am I able to get a refund?

You can do that but not in the way you are expecting, whichever way you do it will require either more ticket options within the event or separate events and use the Multi Event Registration add-on.

You’ll either need a lot of ticket options within a single event, or you could use a membership plugin to have the user sign up as either a member/student (assuming ‘non-member’ would just be any logged out user) and then limit the ticket selection based on the current user (meaning ‘Members’ see tickets for member, Students for students and logged out users see another set.

If that won’t work for you, you can request a refund here:
