We just started a home décor workshop. We offer different size signs. To keep it simple we have Medium Signs and we have Large signs. However, only some of our designs fit on Medium signs and some fit on Large signs. We’ve created a table, but people don’t follow instructions. Here is how we currently have it setup: https://www.lovejoyworkshop.com/events/wood-plank-sign-workshop-02-15-18/ We are constantly adding new designs and removing seasonal designs. Is there a way if someone selects a “Medium Sign” ticket to only show them Medium Designs when checking out? I realize that I could create a separate ticket for each design, but with adding and removing them and potentially over 30 different tickets, that doesn’t seem like the best solution. I have gravity forms and I love the way that works with conditional logic. I can specify if they select “x” then it shows them “y”. Is there something similar in Event Espresso or does someone know a work around? Please Help! |
Hi there, Great questions. What you can do is: Here’s a link to an example site with a similar set up: With regards to Gravity Forms-like conditional logic, that’s actually a feature request they’re currently tracking, and its trello card could use your vote! |

Are you saying to create 2 separate events: One for medium signs with their respective sign designs and another for Large Signs, with their respective sign designs? I just wanted to make sure I am understanding that correctly. |
That’s correct, 2 separate events and you can use the Ticket Selector shortcode to display both options on the same page. |
Okay, can you walk me through how to do that and where I get the short code? |
You’ve already created one event, so you go to edit that event and you click on the “Duplicate Event” button. Now you’ll have two copies of the same event. Then you go to edit both the events. On one event you remove the medium signs option, and on the other event remove the large signs option. Then on one of the events, you click on the Shortcode button, then you copy the shortcode, and paste the shortcode into the other event. |

Sorry for being so slow. . . . One event will have medium signs, one event will have large signs. What shortcode am I copying? Where do I get this shortcode? Will one of the events actually be “live” or hidden. For some reason, I am missing this. |
Both events will be live. Unless there’s a conflict from another plugin or theme, there will be a shortcode button just below where you input the title of the event. Here’s a screenshot that shows the location of that button: https://slack-files.com/T02SY781D-F99E7THLH-1d83a64021 If you’re editing an event and no button displays there, I can advise to install the Health Check plugin, then go to Dashboard > Health Check > Troubleshooting and put the site in Troubleshooting mode. Once in troubleshooting mode you can reactivate plugins one by one until you find the one that’s removing the Shortcode button. |

So, I guess my issue or question is, will there be 2 separate, but identical events that my customers will have to choose between? For example, here is how tonight’s calendar looks. One wood plank sign workshop. By following your steps above, would there be 2 events shown on the calendar? How confusing will that be? If that is true, wouldn’t this literally double our work creating 2 or 3 “events” for what should only be 1 event? |
It will not double your work because there’s a “Duplicate Event” button, and there will be two events shown on the calendar. Having two events on the calendar may or may not be confusing, but as it stands right now that’s the only way to have specific reg form questions for a specific ticket option. |
This might be a dumb question, but can’t the duplicate event just be “hidden” or private so it doesn’t appear on the calendar and causes confusion. This way you can still copy the shortcode, correct? Do you see any problems with that? |
There are no dumb questions here. You can change the duplicate event’s status from Published to Draft (or if you’ve just made a copy simply don’t publish it and instead save as a draft). Draft events do not display on the calendar. |
Thank you!I appreciate that. Can those “drafted” posts stay in draft form and will still allow people the ticketing function to work when we copy the short code onto the published event? |
No actually the event will need to be Published. |
Then, back to my idea. . . Can it be a private event? So, published, but “private” |
If the event is private then they’d need to be logged into the website to see the ticket option for the private event. Another idea would be to have two clearly marked questions: One for the “Medium” sign, and one for the “Large” sign. Then you clearly label the two fields so they’ll know which field to select from. |
