I want to use Event Espresso but have no prior experience with web development and don’t know the first thing about code. Luckily I just discovered some great looking themes that allow you to create a website with no code knowledge required:
Ultimatum, Headway, iTheme Builder
There is no information that I can find that tells me whether these themes will support Event Espresso as a plugin. They all claim to be stable and compliant with WP standards but there’s no specific information. Can anyone enlighten me?
I’m not familiar with Ultimatum. Headway and iThemes have both have good reputations for providing good support. The only data I have related to a compatibility issue is with Headway and it’s pretty minor:
There’s a conflict that happens when using the Headway theme and the when Event Espresso’s Main registration page is set to load as https (this is typically only the case where on-site payments are an option like Stripe or PayPal Pro).
What happens is the main registration page redirects back to the event list when you try to submit an event. If you turn https off it goes away. The issue seems to be caused bu a built in Headway feature that compresses pages. If are going to use onsite payment options you really should have https, so there is a workaround: You can go to the advanced Headway theme settings and disable the gzip compression. Once the Headway gzip compression option is disabled the redirect no longer happens on a secured registration page.
If you’re going to use an offsite payment option like PayPal standard then the above issue isn’t applicable.
