Check sold out events automatically and set to publish if possible

When a sold out event has new spaces (ie deleting attendees) available one has to go to the specific event within WP-Admin and update it’s settings to being shown again (published). This is a manual step.

Is it possible do make a function to check if a event is not sold out anymore and make it published automatically?

That actually happens automatically via wp_cron. May I ask is wp_cron() disabled on your server?
