Check Payment option missing steps during checkout

My check payment option does not show Instructions, Payable To, Address Payable – Isn’t this supposed to show during checkout when paying by check? you can try it here: https://ca-ameschools.net/ame-institute-2022/

Please let me know if I’m doing something wrong or if I need to add this info in the description or what.

Hi there,

The instructions wont show on the registration-checkout but should show on the thank you page at the bottom.

However, on your site the thank you page doesn’t load the transaction details (which also loads a ‘Payment overview’ section that holds the payment method info).

It looks like either yourself, your host or a plugin has disable WP Heartbeat on the site and that is what we use to load the payment section on the thank you page.

Which host are you using?

Did you intentionally disable heartbeat yourself, is so, try enabling it and view the thank you page for a registration, do you see payment instructions then?

That worked – thank you! One last question – if I have the default payment set to pending, does that mean I have to approve all the registrations – even those paying with a card? I want checks to pend and cards to auto approve.

No, you don’t need to approve all registrations with a default status of pending payment.

Pending payment registrations are those that awaiting payment, EE will automatically update those to Approved when payment is made in full as the registration is no longer waiting on a payment.

That’s the default setting for Event Espresso and works how most people would expect a ‘normal’ transaction to work, you do have the options to change that default behaviour with different statuses but most people want pending payment.

If you are looking at the other options and wondering when you would use those:

Approved – sets all registrations to approved regardless of payment status, meaning if you wanted the check registrationd to hold a space even if they didn’t pay, you would use that option.
(Only approved registrations are included in your sold values)

Not Approved – that allows users to register but they don’t go to the payment options until you (the admin) change the status to something else, usually pending payment but some also chose to use approved.

Users use that option when they have a certain criteria to meet to allow registrations and you want to review those before allowing payment. Say you needed to have a specific qualification to attend the event, you may ask for proof of that on you reg form and review each registration to check before allowing them through.
