Hi,

If you got several events running simultaneously (for example 1 in L.A. @9Am and 1 in San Francisco @9am, etc.).

Each event is supervised by its own local manager who checks people in with the barcode app.

Is it possible to create various logins to the app, like one for each manager ? The login would relate exclusively to the attendees on the venue ?

Issues :
1/ the manager might not need to see who are the attendees on other venues ;
2/ can several managers be simultaneously logged in and be active checking attendees in, on a same account ? Does it actually work ?
3/ in the current situation (only 1 login), that would give every venue managers the “Event Espresso” login for the whole company.

I’ve seen ticketing apps that enabled creating specific APIs to the app., one API per venue.
In the present case it would not be an API; only a dedicated “manager” account.

Thanks in advance for your precisions

Hi there,

Event Espresso does not come with a user role that can do this out of the box but yes, this is possible using a custom user role and assigning the ‘manager’ as the event author.

We use multiple capability checks within EE so you can do the above using a custom user role with the required capabilities to view the registrations, check-in/out for an event the account is assigned as the author for.

As mentioned Event Espresso does not come with a user role that can do this out of the box but I’ve previously created an example plugin to generate 2 additional roles which will give you an idea on how this will work:

https://monosnap.com/file/OByG22pbZaAHZZNz6LXThha9GutLux

Install that plugin on the site and it will add 2 custom roles:

‘Events Manager’ – that role basically has full access to Event Espresso but not the rest of your site.

‘Event Organizer’ – is a user role that should only have access to events (and related data) for event(s) that user is set as the author for.

So setup an account using the Event Organizer role, assign that user account to the event in question and try logging in on the app with that user account, do you only see the event you set and can check registrants in/out on that event?

1/ the manager might not need to see who are the attendees on other venues ;

Event Espresso doesn’t work on ‘venues’, it works based on Events and whilst venues are assigned to events it’s an important distinction.

The above gives you access to the events and then the related data (such as venues) can be accessed from there.

2/ can several managers be simultaneously logged in and be active checking attendees in, on a same account ? Does it actually work ?

With the above method I mentioned, yes.

3/ in the current situation (only 1 login), that would give every venue managers the “Event Espresso” login for the whole company.

Event Espresso was designed to be used by an organization to host their own event(s) so by default it gives full access to the events etc.

However as mentioned we use capability checks throughout Event Espresso which means you can have granular control over what users have access to, we just don’t have a role set up for that purpose as everyone wants something different and can use something like User Role Manager to create one.
