I am trying to change the text: “The event you have selected requires logging in before you can register. You can register for an account here if you don’t have a login.” in the first or Login step of the SPCO and the changes not taking effect. I see in various topics filename is referred to as both “event_espresso-en_US.mo” and “event-espresso-en_US.mo”; which is correct, underscore or dash? Also in POedit I am getting a warning that the language of the translation is the same as the source; I am only trying to change the wording in English so I assume this is okay? Finally, when I located the correct string, should I make the changes in the “Source text” or “Translation” box? |

Well, just cleared the cart and started a new checkout process and it worked. So for anyone stumbling onto this, I have “event_espresso-en_US.mo” and changed the text in the translation box. |
This post was marked resolved however I’ll add some details for how the translation files are loaded for future readers.
Event Espresso checks for the files in this order: event_espresso-{locale}.mo event-espresso-4-{locale}.mo Either of those two filenames will work within /wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages/ Note that it is not just the dash and underscore that is different as the second filename includes
Yes its fine, its just a warning from POEdit.
POEdit should not allow you to change the source field. Source is the string you are looking to translate. Translated is the string that will be output in place of the source.
EE has some internal caching which means for some text strings you will need to clear the cart completely (you can visit the /registration-cancelled/ page or just clear the cart) before the changes will take effect. |
