Hello, I duplicated an expired event which seemed to work out fine except for the messages. The event shortcode “EVENT_NAME” and a few other shortcodes related to date and times are pulling up information from the expired event instead of the new one even though I’ve changed all of the information for the new event and it has a new event ID. How can I modify the shortcodes, or alternatively get them the update to recognize the new event as the main event? Thanks, |
Hi Wendy, I’ve not seen that happen before. Maybe you can try the |

It seems like all of the shortcodes are pulling info from my previous expired event. |
You put the |

It’s still pulling the expired event info. |

Do I need to delete my expired event in order for the messages to update? I was trying to avoid doing that. It doesn’t look like there’s an option to archive an event? |
|
I trashed the event and that worked. Now it’s recognizing the new one. I still don’t understand why I wasn’t able to create a custom message for the new event. That is not a very good solution if we have multiple events, so I still need to know why it didn’t work. Also, you should consider having an archive option for expired events and registrations. |
Did you create the custom message from within the event editor or from within the Message templates editor? |
|
|
I went into the specific event and selected create a custom message for the online receipt. I’m not sure if that’s what you mean when you say event editor? |
Was that editing the duplicated event where you selected the custom message or was it editing the original event? |
|
|
Duplicated event |
I checked a few places where events were duplicated on a on a test site and I’m not seeing this happen. Did the original event also have its own custom message? |
