If I go into process a payment, it defaults to ALL – can I have it default to only the one you selected from? Otherwise there’s a risk of applying a transaction, and then that entry is locked. TY

Hi there,

If I go into process a payment, it defaults to ALL – can I have it default to only the one you selected from?

By ‘All’ registrations, it’s referring to all of the registrations in the current group. So if it’s a single registration it applies just to that one, a group of 4 tickets, it applies to payment across all 4 registrations.

Defaulting to just 1 would lead to more payments being applied to a single registration, for example, if the tickets are $50 and a 200$ payment is applied to the group of 4, they get an equal share of the payment split across them. Selecting just would mean a payment of $200 is applied to just one registration linked to a $50 ticket.

Otherwise there’s a risk of applying a transaction, and then that entry is locked.

The transaction will lock because a payment has been applied, if that payment is then removed because it was added by mistake, then no payments are set on the transaction and it will no longer be locked.

Can add some more details on what the issue is with the above, please? I can check into it if there is an issue I’m missing.

Oh OK, I misunderstood what “all” meant. How do you remove a transaction?

You wouldn’t remove the transaction itself, you remove the registrations linked to it which in turn removes the transaction.

Every registration within EE is linked to a transaction and a single transaction can be linked to multiple registrations (if you create a group registration by selecting multiple tickets, all of the registrations in that group link to the same transaction).

First, can you clarify what you mean by a transaction? I’m assuming the EE Transaction itself but you mention applying a transaction above, which is something you can’t do within EE, you can apply payments to a transaction but not a transaction in itself.

I did a test registration and then applied payment to that registration – I just want to remove that registration / payment from the system but it is locked. So how do I unlock to get rid of it?

When a transaction has payments linked to it, it locks until you remove the payments themselves.

So click on the transaction to view it, and you’ll see the individual payment(s) within that, each of those will have a trash icon you can click to remove it:

Remove the payments from the transaction and you will then be able to trash the registrations linked to it, after trashing those you’ll be able to prem delete the registrations which will also remove the transaction.
