We’ve reactivated the First Data payment option after upgrading to 3.1.33.3.P. It was deactivated with the upgrade I guess. There seem to be some changes as we test checking out for an event.
Before the update, the user would be taken to a page on First Data’s processing site and then returned after the transaction was either completed or cancelled.
Now, when testing, it seems that the user is to input all card related info while still on our site. We have no security cert for the site. I assume our lack of security cert has something to so with a request for a .pem file.
How do I get the function back to taking the user to the First Data site so that I don’t have to jump thru all these additional hoops related to site security and ecommerce transactions?
It sounds like you may have been using the FirstData Connect2 gateway which has been discontinued. FirstData’s E4 gateway is the one that takes the customer to First Data’s site for payment that we’re supporting now. You can contact your Merchant services/FirstData to update your account to use the newer E4 gateway to process payments on their site.
We’ve got a separate plugin for donations that’s also running on the Connect2 product. Problematic to change with an event coming up.
If I were to try the straight First Data payment option, where would I get the ,pem file it seems to require? Would that created an https situation on the espresso pages that is currently missing?
I think the onsite First Data payment option would require a First Data Global Gateway account (it’s not the same as their connect2 product). The .pem is downloaded from the First Data account.
The older Connect 2 gateway is available as an archive and can be unzipped and uploaded to /wp-content/uploads/espresso/gateways if you’d like to try running it on the newer version. It may still work, but it has not been updated or supported for about 6 months. It can be downloaded here:
