I need to change the wording for “Sale Dates” and “The dates when this option is available for purchase.” How can this be achieved? I’ve checked the language file where I have successfully customised other labels, however these two don’t appear to be there.

Hi Craig,

Both of those can be changed by using a gettext filter in a site specific plugin (https://eventespresso.com/wiki/create-site-specific-plugin-wordpress-site/):

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-change-wording-with-poedit/#custom-function

Here are the original strings:

Sale Dates

The dates when this option is available for purchase.

Be careful of extra spacing before or after the strings as gettext looks for an exact match.

Thanks that did the trick. I am however a little unsure why there are inconsistencies as to what can be changed in the language file (which seems the logical approach) and what needs to be changed programmatically? There doesn’t appear to be any logic to it as other text in that same block were in the language file.

Hi, both of those phrases are actually in the language file on GlotPress:

https://translate.eventespresso.com/projects/event-espresso-4/en/event-espresso-en_US?filters%5Bterm%5D=Sale+Dates&filters%5Buser_login%5D=&filters%5Bstatus%5D=current_or_waiting_or_fuzzy_or_untranslated&filter=Filter&sort%5Bby%5D=priority&sort%5Bhow%5D=desc

Are you using something like PO edit to make changes locally and then adding an MO file to your site?

I am, but the version of the file I had did not include the terms. Possibly an old version of the file?

Possibly yes, it depends on when and where you downloaded the PO file from as we update the translations within GlotPress as we add new strings so from time to time you’ll need to download the latest version from GlotPress and merge the latest translations into your PO file.

Make sure you have a backup of your translation file before doing so, just to be safe.
