Hi Guys, Unfortunately, after Josh helped me out here: https://eventespresso.com/topic/how-to-implement-provincial-tax-into-paypal-pro-onsite-payment/ Our client decided that they wanted to do taxes depending on where the event is held. We have two provinces so far that events take place. Is there any way that I can make this into a dropdown in the back end, instead of having to add a surcharge to every ticket? Thanks, |
Hi Jason, Do the tickets for the event work for any location or does each location have its own ticket options? |

Hey Josh, Not quite sure what you mean – I think I may have confused you. The venues are at different, random places in those two provinces for now, so I don’t think tying the tax down to the venue would work. |
Can you clearly communicate what you’re actually trying to do? The reason I ask is I didn’t ask about venues, I asked about tickets. So far you’ve established that you client hold events at different locations, and wants to charge a different tax based on the location of the event, but you haven’t mentioned how the events or ticket options are set up. To put it another way, if I were to register for one of your client’s events, how is it that I communicate with your client about which venue I’m going to be showing up to? Would I register for a specific event, select a ticket for an event, or some other means? |

Hey Josh, This a typical event in Quebec – https://psg.ca/events/fundamentals-of-canadian-pharmacovigilance/ and a typical event in Ontario – https://psg.ca/events/gmp-auditing/ As you can see – every event has only one specific venue. The tickets only correspond with one venue. Hope this clears it up, let me know if I didn’t explain it properly. – Jason |
So Jason, When you set up those events, you can add a price modifier surcharge to each of the tickets and you set the that price modifier surcharge amount to the amount of tax. |

Hey Josh, Yes, that is what I’ve actually set up right now for the client, but they’re complaining that it’s tedious for them to enter it manually. Was hoping for a one click applying solution. Thanks, |
Hi Jason, You can make it so it’s less tedious where they don’t have to enter it manually by going to Event Espresso > Pricing, then click on Add New Default Price. This will add a new default price so whenever they create a new ticket, that price modifier will automatically be added to the ticket. From there the price modifier amount can be edited if need be. The one click applying solution (where you click on the checkbox for “This ticket is taxable”) only works if there’s one set of tax rates. Since your client has different tax rates depending on the event location, that’s not the solution for them. |
