I am using EE 4.3.0.p
I have an event for teachers. An individual had registered and paid by credit card for our event. Subsequently, her school registered her and 3 others in a separate transaction, also paid by credit card. The school would like to substitute another person for her duplicate registration. How can I do that on the back end? There is only one contact associated with both registrations. If I change that contact, it will change the name for both registrations, no?

Yes it will.
In 4.6+ we added the ability to create a new contact within the registration if the same contact is used throughout them all – http://take.ms/Wbpbz
Notice the create contact button, when that is clicked the existing contact details are duplicated, a new contact is created and assigned to that specific registration. You are then directed to edit the contact and save the changes.
Is there any reason you have not updated to the latest version of Event Espresso? (Currently 4.6.14.p)
It is only 1 week before our event. This is our first time using EE, and I am not an IT person. Honestly, too nervous to try and upgrade this close to an event…afraid I don’t have the time (or knowledge) to troubleshoot if something went wrong. Is there a workaround–other steps I could take to switch a registration from one person to another? Was this impossible to do when everyone was on 4.3.0?
You can cancel the existing registration and then create a new one through Event Espresso –> Events. Then hover over the name of the event and click on Registrations.
On the next page, click on Add New Registration and then complete the registration. You may want to remove the option to send registration details (yellow box).
Then go to the transactions screen and add a payment for the full amount with a description of:
Event Admin – adjustment – switching ticket
Then you can send the new registration to the attendee/registration and apply the payment.
Thanks. I’ve followed this, and while it sent out some confusing emails to our attendees, I have assured everyone about their registrations. Thanks for the help.
