Hi, When I checked the cart.php it says something completely different- “Confirm and go to payment page”, which is exactly what I need. Am I looking at the wrong file? Thanks Morag Reid |
Hi Morag, What would you like to change the text to? — |
|

On the page where you confirm the registration, it just says “Confirm Registration”. Its confusing. I’d like it to say “Confirm and go to payment page”. Thanks Morag |
Hi Morag, Editing the templates to change a few text strings is generally not recommended because it may cause breakage in future updates. Instead we recommend changing them via the WordPress translation feature. There are a few options outlined in this guide: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-change-wording-with-poedit/ |

Just to note with the method Josh linked to, when translating the strings you need to translate the full string, so in this case: ‘Confirm Registration’ Just thought I’d mention that to save any confusion 🙂 |

OK. This is interesting. I have never done this before. It took me a few trys; for some reason it wasn’t overwriting the mo file, but the third time it seemed to be OK. Thanks for your help. Tony, not sure what you meant about the “full stop”. I didn’t have any issues with changing the text. |
Hi mreid, Full stop is another way to say period (.) — |

Lorenzo, my dear… ;0) |
Hi Morag, Apologies, I should have been a little clearer. In the past people have tried to just translate strings without the punctuation, as far as the translation is concerned punctuation is just a part of the string, it is the full string we translate, not individual words. In some cases there is whitespace before the phrase, such as ‘ Early Pricing’, translating ‘Early Pricing’ will not work, as that’s not the full string. (Hopefully that makes sense :)) So if you tried to translate ‘Your registration is not complete until payment is received’ without the full stop/period into another phrase, it would not work. As you have used the PO/MO files rather than the function/plugin within that guide it isn’t as noticeable due to the fact that the string is already there, it is just a case of simply adding in the translation for that string that is already there (If you notice within the PO file the full stop is included within the string you translated – illustrating this). So in an effort to create less confusion, I created more, for that I am sorry. As you have it working, you can simply ignore my previous comment and continue using the PO file without issue 🙂 |

Aha! Yes, that makes sense now Tony. I wasn’t sure if were for punctuation or for coding purposes. Also, the use of the phrase “full stop” – typically British English (as I am) versus “period” typically American English threw me a little. |

Hi, Have you now resolved this issue, or do you need further assistance? |

Yes, Dean. Thanks to all for your help with this. |
