Im getting concerned guys. There are a few highly requested feature requests like Woo compatibility and gift certificates that have been in trello for almost 2 years. But basically no comments on those features about any chance it happens. Also, this recurring events thing for example. No updates on this either in 2 months. As a business owner, I have to be prepared if you guys are going out of business or something and I have a strange feeling that something isn’t quite right in the present. Is this trello board still active? Are any of the feature requests going to actually happen? Should we all start looking for other options? I love EE and as long time user I would hope to some good answers to these concerns please. is EE just content with how it is now and not planning on adding more things to make their plugin even better like more shopping cart functionality and working with Woo Commerce? Making this plugin work wth Woo would basically make checkout easier, be able to have oto’s and sell products along with events. And then we could use all of the extra extensions that come with Woo. And it would solve the gift certificate problem. I just don’t understand how EE as a company hasn’t done this yet. The only reason would be that the company is content with just staying the way they are and not growing. And to me that means that there is a date that whoever is the owner of EE is now, once they decide to retire or move on the plugin will fail. So please just answer honestly what is the company’s goals long term because I’m getting nervous after looking at trello board and not seeing some of the great requested features not even getting the time of day. |

Hi Jarred,
Yes, it is active, but we do not use the trello board as a project management tool. We use it as one way to get feedback on and keep track of feature requests. So that’s why you don’t see any updates on progress there. If you’d like to follow the progress of most of what we work on, that’s available to see on GitHub: https://github.com/eventespresso
Yes. In the immediate future we’re releasing the highly requested Attendee Importer add-on. The Recurring Events add-on development is currently in progress.
I’d say no to the “we all” part, but here’s an important thing to consider when it comes to you as an individual business owner: EE as a project depends on the success of everyone that uses it. So if you’re finding that your business is being held back in some way, or not as successful as it could be because you’re using EE, then by all means you should look for other options. Many are using EE to great success, but we recognize that it’s not necessarily the best option for everyone and we recognize that the other options may be a better fit for some.
Actually, let’s take this in two parts:
No, we’re not just content with how it is now, and yes we are planning on adding more features and to make the plugin even better.
We do have plans for improvements to the Multi Event Registration add-on, but no current plans for WooCommerce. One reason being the developers that work full time on Event Espresso are working on Event Espresso and its related add-ons. There’s little to no time for building things for WooCommerce. That said, if you know of a competent WooCommerce developer that is available to build out extensions for WooCommerce that integrate with other systems, we’d love to find out more about them and possibly contract with them to build some things for EE.
Not a question, but I’ll reply. The reasons for not building out WooCommerce-dependant features is not because the company is content with the current rate of growth. As an aside, we’ve actually heard from some of our new customers who have told us they’ve left behind event registration solutions that are based on WooCommerce. They’ve said that moving over to a dedicated event registration solution (as opposed to an event plugin that’s shoehorned into WooCommerce) has made their registration process easier. Along with that, integrations like WPFusion and the Price Modifier add-on (available from third party developers) have lessened the need for WooCommerce for their business. |
