Is it possible to capture registrations only after finalizing registration by pressing the finalize registration button? It appears that once registrations are started, even if the payment option is not selected, registrations will show under the registrations tab.

Only attendees who are of the status Approved count against your registration limits. But it is by design that once someone starts to register and provides you their information, that the registration is created. That way if something happens along the way that stops them from being successful with registering or buying tickets, you can contact them to assist.

So, while Event Espresso will capture that information early and often, you only have to pay attention to some of the information for different situations. If you’re looking for only people who have paid, then looked at Approved status registrations.

Does that help?

Here is a concern I have. We have a large population that is not very comfortable with online registration ie..board of directors. We have already had members start to register and then have questions so they leave the registration and come back later and start a new registration so they are registered multiple times. The system does not seem to recognize duplicate registrations.

The system does not seem to recognize duplicate registrations.

Sort of, but it doesn’t need to recognise them in the way you are expecting becuase they don’t affect the sold values until the registration is Approved, which it won’t be until theu finalize/pay.

So your issue is with people adding all their details and then stopping at the payment step to then come back later?

Let’s say we did swap it around, we still need to capture those details so whats to stop the same thing happening then?

When I download a CSV report for name badges it will show duplicate registrations even if they have not selected finalize/pay.

You can filter the registrations to show only the Approved status first and that’s all that will be included in the CSV when you click to generate the report.

ok, thank you! This is the first time we have done registration for our annual meeting (approx 380 people) and my supervisor is very nervous and hesitant.

That’s understandable, but rather than trying to completely switch around how the current process works (which will take significant custom development) I’d recommend adjusting the expectations of how this works and trying it out.

Event Espresso is set up to allow registrations to be made, for people to ‘revisit’ using links within emails etc to complete payments on previous registration etc. Registrations don’t apply to the sold values until they are Approved and that happens by default when the payment is made in full or you’ve set the event to specifically approve registration by default.

The CSV can be filters for Registration status to remove registrations you don’t need etc and you should find you can pull in al of the data you need fairly easily.
