Trying to provide an invoice to our client. Clicking on the invoice link opens a new window that displays our homepage and “an error has occurred.” No other info given. How can we fix this, please?

Hi there,

Can you post either a link to the invoice or a link to an event I can register onto to view this, please?

You can mark your reply as private so only EE staff can view it.

ok, so that means there’s a fatal error and/or exception being thrown during the request.

Are you comfortable with FTP or have some kind of file manager access to the server?

If so, add this to your sites wp-config.php file:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/troubleshooting-checklist/#wpdebug

You should already have something like this:

define( 'WP_DEBUG', false );

The block of code I linked you to replaces that single line.

That should show some additional details on that error message and also log any errors thrown.

I have enabled WP_DEBUG with the code provided, but it does not display any new information and does not create a debug.log file. Maybe it has been disabled by WPEngine, as they often have strict controls on website errors. What else can we look at?

Ok, so I added a new registration to one of your events and can view the Invoice/Receipt for that without an issue.

I then tried to view information on that registration using details from the link you gave me and EE can’t pull the registration data.

The only time I’ve seen that happen is when the registration has been trashed/deleted. So, has the registration that link is for been trashed?

Also, as your using WPEngine I recommend you work through this:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/setup-wpengine-hosting-event-espresso/

You may have already disabled caching (otherwise registrations wouldn’t work) but I can see on the thank you page that heartbeat is still disabled.

Tony, your experienced intuition was dead on–this registration was found in the trash. I will know to look there in the future. Thanks very much for your help!
