When I try to create a new event or install new support key I get this error message: “You do not have access to this route”. When I try to update to latest version of EE4, it says it is unable to install.

I admittedly know very little about computer or web programming so I cannot understand how to trouble shoot by reading the support posts.

Please help. I just need to set up a simple registration for an event. Thanks.

Hi Mizue,

I tried to check the site with the credentials that you sent, but user account you sent does not have Administator or Events Administrator-level role. Did someone else set up the WordPress site, and then gave you a log in that wasn’t allowed to run plugin updates?

We can investigate further if you can resend the Redeem a Support token for and include Administrator WordPress log in credentials and FTP Access. You can get FTP credentials from your hosting company.

Hi Mizue,

I was able to update the site to have the latest version of Event Espresso 4, but I cannot find why you are getting the “you do not have access to this route” error. There are events that were added before, so I’m going to assume this was all working before.

Can you or someone else who uses this site remember since that time when it worked, if anything had been changed on the site, like a new plugin or moved to a new server, new firewall or anything else like that?

Thanks, Josh. I checked in with our IT person. He says we changed the primary domain in early 2016 from immigrantdefenseproject.org to immdefense.org (which was previously already in place) and the only new plug ins are 2 Captcha plug-ins (but neither is active right now): SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam and Captcha by BestWebSoft. There is no firewall nor new server. also we re-designed the site and there may have been changes to the WordPress SQL database as part of that process.

He says: it may be that we need a fresh install of the plug-in
wiping out all the old info. or maybe they can fix it.

Hope that helps. Thank you!

Thanks for the information. I’m going to look further into those changes to the WordPress SQL database because those changes are most likely breaking things.

Actually, this turned out to be related to some of the work done that possibly was part of changing domain names. There was an error that was made when the wp-config.php file was edited. This was at the very bottom of the wp-config.php file:

define('WP_HOME','http://www.immdefense.org');

define('WP_SITEURL','http://www.immdefense.org');

There’s not an error in the above code, however the location where it was placed was incorrect. You see, there’s an important comment near the bottom of the wp-config.php file that says this:

/* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */

So the fix was actually a simple one, we moved the code so now it’s before where it says to stop editing. When it’s after the code that runs later, it will cause problems like the problems you saw earlier.
