I followed the steps for the topic “How to Translate Event Espresso” and at point 3) I have the problem, that I can’t create a new folder “languages” with my FTP Client Filezilla –> Message: 550 I: Permission denied

“3) Now create a folder called languages. If a languages folder is already there then browse into that folder. You should now be viewing the following location in your SFTP/FTP client:
/wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages”

I also can’t change the current file permissions of the folder “/wp-content/uploads/espresso” from 755 to for example 777. Every other folder I can change the permissions.

Thanks for your help.

Hi there,

Message: 550 I: Permission denied means the user you are logged into (via FTP) does not have permission to create new directories on that server, I’d recommend contacting your host and have them fix this for you.

EE will also attempt to generate that directory for you, so if it’s not there it usually means you web user can’t create new directories in the above directory.

I also can’t change the current file permissions of the folder “/wp-content/uploads/espresso” from 755 to for example 777. Every other folder I can change the permissions.

Why are you changing permissions to 777? You should not set the permissions to 777.
