Can't complete registration

Hi there!

I only have the invoice option for payment but I’m getting a “This registration step could not be completed. Please refresh the page and try again.” during the registration process.

How do I solve this?

There are a few possible causes to this issue. You can rule these out one by one:
1) A theme conflict. You can rule this out by temporarily switching to the default WordPress theme.
2) A plugin conflict. You can rule this out by temporarily deactivating any other installed WordPress plugins.
It may also help to turn on debug mode. You can set wp_debug to true by editing the wp-config.php file.
You can use an [FTP client][1] and [a text editor][2] to access change this line to the site’s wp-config.php file:
define(‘WP_DEBUG’, true);

Hi there!

Is it normal to be able to manually register atendees from the EE dashboard even if I’m unable to complete the registration process?

That was enlightening…
Point is: right now I’m able to manually register attendees. Should that work? I mean, the normal process is not working?…

So when the front end registration process isn’t working, that’s probably because there’s a script error-ing out that’s only affecting the front end of the site. Which would be the case when the registration process works on the back-end of the site.

The way forward is identify the root cause of the breakage, and the first step is rule out any errant scripts from the theme or other plugins.

It’s the theme. Is there any way to fix this besides changing theme? We bought that theme specifically for this website!

I changed themes from Themeco’s X to twenty fifteen and back and now the registration process is working…

That might be a JavaScript error in the console that’s from the X theme. Is there a dev site where you can activate the X theme, where we can take a look at the registration page for an error?

Sadly no. But the site is pretty much brand new. If you want to check something, you might as well do it in the live site.

Hi there!
This is what I did:
1. Following Josh instructions, I switched themes from Themeco’s X to a basic WordPress one (Twenty Fifteen).
2. I tried to complete the registration process in 2 different computers, 2 smartphones, and a tablet and was able to.
3. I switched back from Twenty Fifteen to Themeco’s X
4. I was able to complete the registration process in 2 different computers, 2 smartphones and a tablet.

That’s what fixed it for me!

The above would not normally fix anything, but you may have had a bad cookie stuck in the browser at one point.
