I went to the Payment types and did not see where I could edit the text of the dropdown.. can you please elaborate further on this topic? I need to add a payment type for SquareUp but do not see one I can edit into the dropdown. I see I can change others, but do not see one I should change. I am trying to get this to report in the CSV export so accounting can be happy. “Other Payment Type” isn’t cutting it, and I cannot find the editor for that one anyway. Thanks.

Hi there,
I’m not sure I understand what you are actually trying to do here, edit a payment method name so you can use it as if it were a ‘SquareUp’ payment (quick and easy), or add a custom payment method for SquareUp (much more involved).

From the other topic:
Event Espresso -> Payment methods -> Bank Draft.
There’s are 2 sections used for the dropdown, ‘Admin-Only Name’ and ‘Admin-Only Description’.
If ‘Admin-Only Description’ is not set, it uses the value from ‘Admin-Only Name’
You can edit the Admin-only name or the Admin-only description field to change the text shown for a payment method in the dropdown.
It’s only those 2 fields you have the choice of so I’m not sure what other info I can give you.
I see I can change others, but do not see one I should change.
If you don’t have a ‘SquareUp’ payment method (we don’t have one) you’ll need to choose a payment method that you can select in its place. I assume your taking SquareUp payments outside of EE and manually adding them to the transaction?

I am looking toedit a payment name “the EASY quick and dirty just change the text in the dropdown” solution.
Yes we are doing Square Up for walk ins.

Ok, so in Event Espresso -> Payment methods.
Do you have an offline payment method that you don’t use?
For example invoice, bank, check?
Actually the Flexible payment method may be better for this:

It’s an offline payment method intended to be used however you see fit.
Download that from your account page, install and activate it on your site.
Then in Event Espresso -> Payment methods -> Flexible (enable the payment method), set the ‘Admin only name’ to have ‘TONY EXAMPLE’ on the end, like this:

Whilst in that section, look at the ‘Usable from’ option and uncheck the ‘Front-end Registration Page’ checkbox so that payment method doesn’t show up on the front end.
Now, apply a payment to a transaction (you’ll need to refresh the page if you already have one open).

Now just change that to whatever you prefer it to be.
You could have done that with any payment method as that field is available for them all, whatever you set there is displayed on that dropdown for each payment method you have set up when usable from has the checkbox for admin checked.
