Cancelling/Refunding One Ticket within a Group?

Hello,

We’re running EE4 on a client site, and said client has been a bit surprised to discover the amount of group registrations happening, i.e., organizations where one person is making ticket purchases for multiple employees, etc. With that we’re running into a few issues.

The current question is how to cancel one ticket without requiring a refund/reprocessing of all tickets within the transaction? I’ve done a bit of searching on the forum here before submitting this support ticket, and found these couple of threads:

But I do notice that these tickets are 2-4 years old, long before the upgrade to EE4, and so wondering if there’s an easier/better way, whether code snippet, addon or suggested workaround.

Hi there,

There’s a few steps to this process:

Step 1 is you go to Event Espresso > Registrations, find the registration you want to cancel, check the box next to it, then click Bulk Actions > Cancel > Apply.
The one registration will now be cancelled and you’ll see that all of the registrations within the group will now say Transaction > Overpaid.

Step 2 You click the TXN date to go to the Transaction record and click the pencil icon to edit the payment. Here you can change the payment amount that will reflect the total amount paid after you issue the partial refund for the one ticket. Then you click save.

Step 3 You go to your merchant account to issue the refund. Some payment processors allow partial refunds, some may not so you might need to check to see what’s allowed. If payment processor don’t allow partial refunds then you’ll need to settle with the canceller by some other means.
