Hi, just looking for a bit of advice about how EE works. I’m looking to set up an event system for our community samba band, so we can find out how many people can play at each gig.
We currently have a (flaky old) system where, as new events are created, an email is sent to all the users, with the option to say whether they are a) playing or b) not playing. This is then visible on the event page so we can see whether we have the necessary numbers – the ability to see who is definitely NOT available is critical.
Can this be done with EE?
There would be a bit of budget available to pay for the pro version and support if this would be the best way to do it.

Hi Stef,
Event Espresso works differently in that registered users have to sign up for an event, they’re not signed up automatically when a new event is created. So the action that needs to be taken on the member’s part would be so sign up if they plan on attending.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply… I think it would be fine if people aren’t automatically signed up for an event, but what we need is for a new event to fire off an email to all registered users, and this email to allow them to register for the event as usual, or to specifically say that they are NOT available.
Is this possible? I presume it would require some custom coding, but as I say, I’m sure there’d be some budget available if it could either be done, or we could be pointed towards the right bits of code.

Hi Stef,
If you have your RSS feed setup where they signup for your blog updates with their email address, you can create a post with each event that is created, which will in turn send an email to their email address letting them know there is another event available. Then they can click the link in the email that will take them to the event page.
