We’re running a live site that’s working fine and taking daily payments successfully. We’d now like to change our payment gateway. To minimise downtime and to be able to service any potential refunds made through the current gateway if they arise, we’d like to run both gateways together for a crossover period. Is this something that is possible? Thanks!
Ooh, thanks for the quick response. We currently use EE>Mijireh>WorldPay and we’d like to move to EE>SagePay>Barclaycard. But obviously if anyone who’s paid through WorldPay wants a refund in the meantime, their details will be stored there. So a period of running both in tandem would be ideal. Thank you for letting me know that’s possible!
However, one thing to note is if the sole reason you want to run both is for refunds you can just deactivate the Mijireh payment method.
EE does not issue refunds through your payment provider, the refunds created within EE are for account purposes only so when you issue a refund you need to log into your payment providers and issue the actual refund there as well as log the refund within EE.
Ah, good advice! Thank you. My concern was more that there would be a technical conflict with running the two integrations simultaneously – like perhaps they’d both demand to use the /checkout page URL at the same time or something. If that’s not going to be an issue, then we’ll give it a go. Much appreciated.
That’s a totally valid concern, but no, there should be no issues using multiple payment methods at the same time as we designed EE to be able to do exactly that 🙂
Great, thank you! Happy for you to mark this as resolved. Much appreciated.
