New installation of Event Espresso 4.3.1
I am using trying to set up an event with the following structure.
All visitors are required to buy a General Admission ticket for $10
Visitors can also buy tickets for multiple premium events such as Guided Tours, VIP Dinners, and access to a VIP Pavillion.
You only need to buy 1 General Admission Ticket to access all the premium event tickets. (Once I buy a General Admission, I can also buy a ticket for the Tour, VIP Dinner, and VIP Pavillion)
The Quantity of each premium event tickets can not exceed the number of General Admission Tickets. (I can not buy 2 Guided Tour if I only buy 1 General Admission)
Does anyone know the best way to structure this event? I currently have each ticket available with a note that a General Admission ticket is required to access a premium event. I know that I can add the price of the General Admission ticket to each premium event, but I would be charging and extra $10 to anyone that orders more than 1 premium event. It would also look like you could only purchase 1 premium event when I actually want them to buy as many as possible.
In EE4.3.0 we added the ‘required ticket’ functionality.
If you edit the event, then edit the ticket itself, you should see a required ticket checkbox – http://take.ms/nsvYh
Is you enable this on your General Admission ticket user will need to select at least one of those tickets to register.
Does that help?
Currently EE4 does not support conditional ticket sales based on the qty selected for another ticket, so this:
The Quantity of each premium event tickets can not exceed the number of General Admission Tickets. (I can not buy 2 Guided Tour if I only buy 1 General Admission)
Would require some custom development in order to work as requested, currently you can select a single required ticket and purchase any amount of the other tickets.
Also I would recommend updating to the latest version of EE4 which is currently 4.4.9. We have made many improvements and bug fixes since version 4.3.1.
If you assign your license key (available through Your Account Page – please use the key NOT endinf with _FREE) to Event Espresso -> General Settings you should be able to use the 1-click update feature to update to the latest version.
