Can Attendees Edit Their Event Registration after Submitting the Form?

I recently purchased the Gravity Forms Developer License to create Applications, Event Registrations and Reservation forms for the new Denny’s website that’s set to drop in the next few weeks. To accomplish this, I narrowed it down to Event Espresso and GForms and I feel good about my purchase with the exception of one issue (this is a pretty big issue at this point).

The Denny’s Board won’t move forward with releasing the site until all Association members have the option to edit their Registration and Reservations after submitting the form and their payment. This needs to be done on the front end and we need the ability to edit all the information they submitted after the fact just as you would if you had a hotel reservation and needed to change specifics a few weeks before arriving.

How can I accomplish this with Event Espresso?

Thank you,

-C

Hi,

Both EE3 and EE4 have options to add email tags to the registration emails that will allow someone to edit their registration details after purchase.

In EE3 this is done by adding the [edit_attendee_link] tag (already there by default).

In EE4 it is the [RECIPIENT_EDIT_REGISTRATION_LINK] added to the Main Content of the message type.

Wow, thanks for such a quick response! A few more questions before I make up my mind:

1. Is the edit registration feature available for the EE3 Personal License ($99.95) or is it only available in the Business and Developer license?
2. Does EE4 only come when you purchase the Developer License ($549.95)?
3. In one or two sentences, can you please briefly explain the major differences between EE3 and EE4 (the EE website isn’t very clear about this and is actually pretty confusing)?

Thanks again!

1. It’s available in the EE3 personal license.
2. No, you can purchase it separately, but it also comes with all EE3 licenses.
3. You can compare the differences here: https://eventespresso.com/differences-ee4-ee3/. We also have an EE4 FAQ available here: https://eventespresso.com/ee4-frequently-asked-questions/

Hi,

1) The feature is available in the core EE3 plugin which is available to all 3 licence types. The licence type denotes which addons are bundled with it and the number of sites you can get support for.

2) Right now EE4 is available to any EE3 licence holder, or can be purchased separately at a discounted rate. This is because EE4 is still in public Beta, so not all features/addons are currently available for it. This will likely change once EE4 comes out of Beta.

3) Not easily. EE4 is a lot different to EE3 in terms of features and structure. EE4 uses Custom Post Types, EE3 does not. Currently EE4 has less addons available to it and some features missing. Right now it also has some features EE3 does not have.

This might help https://eventespresso.com/differences-ee4-ee3/

If you haven’t already done so, you can sign up for a test drive of EE4 for free over at http://demoee.org

Excellent, thank you! I’m very impressed with the thoroughness and timeliness of your support.

It looks like the form on the “Test Drive EE4” page: http://demoee.org/test-drive-ee4/ was created with Gravity Forms.

1. Does this plugin work seamlessly with Gravity Forms?
2. If that’s not a Gravity Form, can both EE3 and EE4 create form fields that look like this (This is a beautiful Sigh Up page that looks very similar to how I have Gravity Forms currently setup on my site)?

Cheers!

Hi,

1) There is no Gravity Forms integration.

2) EE3 and EE4 can both create form, in EE4 the form is styled by the theme so it depends on how that styles it. You can of course use CSS to change the look of the form.

Great! Support here is pretty stellar I must say!

As mentioned before, I don’t have a lot of time to create the registration / reservation forms (I need this done within a day or two at the most). I’m very aware that there’s a learning curve to any new software and I’d like to keep that to a minimum.

I currently have six Gravity Forms pages setup on my site and need to recreate two of them (Convention Registration and Booth Package Reservation) being that I have to allow attendees to edit registration / reservation after submitting their information.

1. Can you please check these two pages, go thru the forms I’ve created, and help me determine if EE is capable of creating forms like this? I need 100% of the functionality that’s you’ll see or I don’t think EE is going to work for my needs:

http://dfa.clintmallon.com/convention-registration/
http://dfa.clintmallon.com/booth-package-reservation/

2. My plan is to purchase the EE3 Personal License being that I’ll have the option to use either EE3 or EE4 for my site. If these forms are possible, can you please recommend that I use EE3 or EE4 for my needs? I simply don’t have time to go thru the learning curve to decide which is best for my needs.

Thank you so much for your time!!

Cheers!!

Hi,

EE3 and EE4 both work in different ways and both work differently to the forms you linked to.

EE4 is in a lot of ways closer to what you have, but it routes in stages:

Pick a ticket/s
Enter details (fill out form)
Pay

“I need 100% of the functionality that’s you’ll see or I don’t think EE is going to work for my needs:”

Well, EE4 has a form, and it allows people to purchase tickets. It doesn’t yet have an add extra to ticket system. EE3 does have one, though that is still in Beta (it works but not with group bookings).

The process the example registration forms go through is slightly different, in that the baisc name address info is part of the main form where the additional questions are also asked.

I must strongly advise you to check out EE4 to make sure it fits your needs, as it does not match the forms you provided as an example.
