Can a 2 person ticket in EE3 be scanned 2 times with a QR Code Reader?

So, here is the issue. I am using EE3, but to decrease cart abandonment I have set it so that only the first attendee has to enter their name and e-mail. Additional attendees do not have to enter any info. So, when the ticket prints outs it has the name of the first attendee and then it has the quantity number of 2 for example. So, would both of these people have to present themselves at the event at the same time? Or would they be able to simply print out 2 copies of the same ticket and enter the venue separately? I am also keeping in mind that the phone QR code scanner documentation says that once a QR code is scanned it cannot be scanned again. So in this case, does the QR code scanner automatically know that it can scan this ticket twice without denying it?

Hi there,

Yes, when you do not request further information (and do not use Multi Event Registration) the registration will create a single registration with a Qty of the amount of tickets purchase, in the case 2.

So that single ticket can be scanned twice and the attendees do not need to arrive at the same time.

The app checks if there is qty of tickets greater than 1 (that have not been checked in) on the registration and displays a qty for you to select. So for example if a users selects 2 tickets, you scan the QR Code and the app will show something like this – http://take.ms/O6VhP

You select how many users you would like to check in and click check in. So if we do 1 ticket now that ticket is checked in.

On the next scan there is only a single ticket available to check-in, so th app automatically does that – http://take.ms/Y3DuC

Yes, that is exactly what I wanted. Thanks! Also, I am using the seating chart, so if I just put the tag [seatingchart_tag] in the ticket template twice, what will happen? Will it show the seat number for the first person twice, or will it show the seat number for ticket 1 and 2?

Full Registration Information is required when using the seating chart, once you set a seating chart for your event and set ‘Allow group registrations?’ to Yes, EE will not allow you to select anything less then ‘Full Registration Information’ – http://take.ms/tukxM
