We are noticing a latency issue with our site using the Calendar add on feature with EE4. From our web hosting company ..
“There are a couple of potential solutions to speed up the site internally, but I would suggest starting with taking a look at your calendar plug in to see if it is needed on your site, (or if there are other calendar alternatives that may reduce latency). If we can adjust the calendar plug in or even removing it will drastically improve your speed to load.”
My question is, do you have a comparable Calendar feature with EE4 that would help improve the latency of our site?
I took a quick look at your site and I can see that the Calendar Widget is loaded on every page. I can advise taking a different approach where that widget location could have a link to a calendar page. Then you can set up that page to include the [ESPRESSO_CALENDAR] shortcode.
This way all of the other pages on your site will no longer have to query through all your events to load a calendar.
Correct. Instead of loading the calendar on every page in that little widget (which is slowing down every page request to your site site), the calendar event queries will only happen on that one page.
