WordPress 3.1, EE 3.1.33.3, recent upgrade (one month ago)

We recently noticed that the Events Calendar shortcode [ESPRESSO_CALENDAR] isn’t working on this page: http://sbane.knowarecms.net/sbane-events-calendar/. Note that the code was working up until a few weeks ago, but we can’t pinpoint what change may have caused it to stop functioning. There script behind the calendar is loading, and there aren’t any errors in the Firebug console to track.

Thanks in advance for any help,
Erik

Hi there,

Has anyone edited the footer.php template file of your WordPress theme in the last few weeks? The reason I ask is there doesn’t appear to be any JavaScript being loaded before the closing body html tag other than analytics code. If you open up the theme’s footer.php template (or where ever the closing body tag is marked up) there needs to be a call to fire the wp_footer action.

Hi Josh,

Thanks for the reply. The footer template hasn’t been changed recently, and the call to the wp_footer() function is in place, right before the closing </body> HTML tag.

Could there be some other JS conflict?

Hi

Your theme is loading jQuery 1.7.0. The Calendar needs a minimum of 1.7.2 and really the theme should be letting WordPress load jQuery (current with WP 3.6 is jQuery 1.10)

I would sort that and see if it resolves the problem, most likely it will.

I updated the plug-in that was loading jQuery to use version 1.7.2, but that didn’t resolve the issue. Please advise.

Can you test to see if the calendar comes back with all non-EE plugins deactivated and switched to the default WP theme?

I deactivated all non-EE plug-ins and switched to the default WP theme. However, the calendar still didn’t appear.

Hi,

Well the test site you linked to above still has Javascript errors http://d.pr/i/kLJd

I am wondering if the whole thing is due to the mismatch in WordPress version and javascript? You are running WordPress 3.1 and of course loading jQuery above 1.7.2 perhaps updating WordPress will resolve the issue
