Yes, I’ve searched and tried several of the recommendations.

Calendar not showing in posts or pages: http://www.creativeconceptdfw.com/calendar/

Events are listed and show: http://www.creativeconceptdfw.com/event-registration/

Event Espresso is 3.1.31.1.P

Today’s Calendar version

WP 2.5.1

New Expresso install.

Hello Ray,

Did you mean to say you are running WP 3.5.1? If not, you definitely need to update. 🙂

Also, it took your site 16.877 seconds to load 163 queries, using 81.92MB memory. It’s possible that you are hitting your memory limit.

Try to rule out any plugin conflicts. Deactivate all non Event Espresso plugins and test to see if the issue is still occurring. If it is not, then we know it is a problem with another plugin. You can then find out which plugin it is by reactivating each plugin individually and testing to see if the problem starts happening after the activation. When it occurs after activating a plugin, then we know this is the culprit.

16.877 seconds was extremely fast back when my 1200 baud modem replaced the 300 baud one. Times have changed. <g>

Memory isn’t an issue here but I will revisit. I’ll also check the plugins.

Hi,

The link you provided – http://www.creativeconceptdfw.com/calendar/ – is returning a 404 error, whihc suggests the page is no longer there (trashed maybe?)

The default registration page is also 404-ing http://www.creativeconceptdfw.com/calendar/

I did find a calendar which is showing fine here http://www.creativeconceptdfw.com/classes-workshops-and-events/classes-workshops-and-events-2/

On inspection this is actually a different plugin, which may affect our calendar as it looks like it is using the same base jquery (fullcalendar).

Can you:

Check that the main pages in the General Settings (4 of them) are correctly set, have the correct shortcodes and are visible to the public (i.e. not password protected, not draft, not trashed, not private etc)

Turn off the other calendar system to test if it is affecting ours.

Dean,

Thanks for the reply.  Yes, I made the pages private over the weekend so not to confuse my visitors. The pages are here and live now.

EE Calendar Page http://www.creativeconceptdfw.com/calendar/
Event Page    http://www.creativeconceptdfw.com/event-registration/
Payment/Thank You Page    http://www.creativeconceptdfw.com/thank-you-2/
Transaction Notification Page    http://www.creativeconceptdfw.com/transactions/
Cancel Return Page    http://www.creativeconceptdfw.com/registration-cancelled/

I will disable the usable calendar with the understanding you or someone will work this issue soon. If the classes are not available to be viewed and signed up for; you understand the issue I’m sure.

Hi,

The Espresso Calendar script is being wrapped in

tags, which effectively stop it from working.

The main way of trying to resolve this is using the [raw][/raw] tags which you said did not work. So, I would guess (I cannot see the appropriate files to be sure) that the theme is using a function to change the way WordPress formats posts/pages.

I tested a few of the themify themes I use and none did the same, so it is either specific to that theme or something else.

One way to confirm this is to swap themes to a default theme such as TwentyTwelve and see if the problem resolves itself.

If it does then we know for sure the theme is causing the conflict. Generally you will find a function in the functions.php which relates to the wp_autop function which can be removed/commented out.

Dean,

I Have swapped the theme several times without success. I will contact the theme’s authors and see if they can help.

Is it possible to get your login details in order to look into this?

If so, please send them via https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

NOTE: login details need to be Admin level.

Hi,

Right I had a look at the theme, and though I couldnt spend a long time looking, I couldnt see anything that may cause a problem. That alongside you saying that the issue remained when the theme was changed, makes me think it may be plugin related.

You have a lot of plugins on your site, so I am not able to quickly ascertain if I am right or not.

What would be a good starting place in my mind is to de-activate all plugins except Event Espresso and event Espresso Calendar, and change theme to twentytwelve. Then one by one bring the plugins back online, testing the calendar each time, to see if it causes the issue.

This may take some time for you due to the number of plugins.

As an aside, if you are not using plugins, it is good practice to remove them from the site. Though rare, old plugins can be the source of a security hole, even when deactivated.

Thank you for taking the time to look at this issue.

From my post on the 12th:

Removed all plugins except

EE

EE Calendar

EE Recurring events

Still not working.

One of the main reasons for purchasing your plugin was/is to reduce the total number of plugins required to duplicate the functionality of Event Expresso.

Apologies, I didnt see that you had tried that. However it confuses me as something, the theme or a plugin, is adding the < p > tags to the script, it does not have them by default.

No worries. I have emailed the theme authors. I really want this to work.

Me too, if there is anything else I can do let me know, and please keep me updated.

Thanks

Dean,

I am working with the Theme’s authors and just received this reply:

“We’ve tested the shortcode and plugin. It doesn’t work on WooThemes as well. However, it works with the default WP theme. We are unable to find out why. Could you contact the plugin’s developer to see if they can give any hint?”

So, what wisdom from EE can I pass along?

Somehow I missed that the [raw] tags weren’t native to WP. My bad.

But, neither the [raw] or the [rawr] plugins had any effect.

Hi,

I tested EE with various Woothemes I have lying around and saw no problems with the calendar.

The only thing I can say to the other theme developers is that they are somehow causing the script to be wrapped in

<p>

tags, which is effectively breaking the script.

Normally this is down to the post/content formatting being changed in some way, wp_autop is generally a problem maker in that area, though I couldnt see anything in the theme that may have caused it but I could have missed something.

Yes raw tags arent native, but fairly common, so it’s often worth just trying them.

Hi there,

You can pass these links along to the theme developer as references:

http://theandystratton.com/2011/shortcode-autoformatting-html-with-paragraphs-and-line-breaks

http://pippinsplugins.com/never-remove-the-default-the_content-filters-in-themes/

Hope that helps!

I don’t know which Woo themes Dean tested but it might be good to know exactly which theme they were testing. I haven’t seen any issues reported here in the forums over the past year and a half with the calendar and a Woo theme.

I tested a couple of free woothemes I had on my system: Swatch, Bueno, The Morning After.

Dean

@Neeltje – I couldnt confirm that you even had the Calendar add on running, I can only assume you turned it off as it wasnt working?

That aside, you do have at least one jQuery error, which will stop the calendar from working.

First off – “Warning: you have included the Google Maps API multiple times on this page. This may cause unexpected errors. ”

And then an uncaught typerror, which seems to be coming from the maps jquery as well, perhaps related to the fact there are multiple apis running. Screenshot of errors http://d.pr/i/BRDm
