Hi We bought EE4 plus grid and calendar add-ons today, but I can’t get any of the calendar shortcodes to show up. See here: http://www.glasdirskillsacademy.co.uk/course-calendar-jon-test-page/. If I add as an iframe it works ok. I’ve looked at some of the other posts on this subject and checked a few things, but can’t see a solution. Any ideas? Thanks, Jon |
Hi Jon, Are you using a visual builder on the site or loading the shortcode through the standard WP Editor? |
|
|
Standard WP editor. I have inherited this site from its previous developer, so I’m not 100% familiar with all its goings on, but definitely no visual builder, just the standard editor. OptimizePress is present, although not used as far as I can tell. I mention that because this does have some visual builder elements you can add in, which when I tried one, also didn’t work. Thanks |
If you preview the page using one of the defautl themes such as twenty-fourteen does the calendar display then? You can do that by previewing the theme (Appearance -> Themes -> Twnetryfourteen -> Preview) Or using the Theme Test Drive plugin to switch to the theme but only for admins. |

Hi Tony. Yes the calendar shows in twentyfifteen. So I guess it is a theme related issue? This appears to be a custom developed theme. Can you direct me where to look for any problems? Alternatively, I have used Jupiter by Artbees a lot – do you happen to know if it functions ok with that? Thanks |
Hi there, The theme on your site has a few issues in the header.php file. The first problem is it’s loading in an extra copy of the jQuery library. The copy of the jQuery library that’s included with WordPress is already loading after the footer of the web page, so you should remove that extra copy. The other problem is with the inline JavaScript that immediately follows (see screenshot). Line 38 there is throwing this error:
Some improvements you could do are move that code to the footer, fix it, and make it only load on the pages where it’s needed. |

Thanks for this Do you know if the calendar etc works ok with Jupiter theme by Artbees? I may just replace the existing as there are other unrelated issues too. Thanks for your help |
We’ve seen a few issues with the Jupiter theme (I have Version: 4.4.4 for testing). For example you’ll need to make sure that you deactivate the Smooth Scroll option in Jupiter’s Theme options. Otherwise users won’t be able to scroll down to see the bottom of the calendar page. If are thinking about using the Jupiter theme, it’d be best to test the website’s functionality thoroughly before putting it on the production site. |
