Bulk Promo Codes

Hi there,

I have a large group of people that I want to give a promo code to, but do not want it used more than once (i.e. if they don’t use it, they can give it to someone, but don’t want it used multiple times).

I suspect the best way to do this is to give each individual a unique promo code that can only be used once. However, it appears I can only put in promo codes one at a time in EE4. Is there a way to do this in bulk, or any other suggestion? I have about 160 people I want to give the promo code to.

Hi Derek,

We don’t currently have an import feature for promotion codes, however I have a question on how you have this set up.

Are the promo codes all going to assigned to a single event or multiple events?

With how I think you are expecting the promotion codes to work all of the promotions codes could only be assigned to a single event, as the ‘uses’ value is uses per item, meaning uses per event currently.

Assigning a promotion code to 3 events with a uses value of 1 means that promotion code can be used once on each of those events, not once across all of the events.

Hi Tony,

I would like to offer the recipients 15% off any event (may specify certain tickets however if possible).

How would I offer specific people a discount, that cannot be shared with the public and used multiple times?

Are the recipients members of your website? If they are, you could use the WP User Integration add-on to create member only tickets that are priced a special rate if the person is logged in.

They are not members; I have about 160 contacts. I could add manually them as members I suppose, then they could give the special rate. However, I wanted it limited to this specific group (not to include new members that register).

Are there capabilities of assigning different levels of membership and offering the discounts to only that level of membership?

I’m open to any ideas on this…

Yes, you can implement the Event Espresso 4 Capabilities System along with the Members plugin by Justin Tadlock to create capabilities for members. Then within the event ticket editor you can set a Ticket Capability Requirement that allows you to set the user capability required to purchase a ticket:
