A question for you. We send out the reminder e-mails (as batch emails through EE) for specific events the week of or before the class to all registrants. And the kicker, will often send reminders for one or more classes within an hour or so.
I check each registrant to receive the reminder; select ‘send Batch’ message; select ‘global’ template; change the subject line; and copy and paste the message to send. I then confirm that is has been sent to the number of registrants I had selected.
If I have more than one event to send reminders to, I will go to the next events, select the registrants and repeat the above sequence.
On more than one occasion, event expresso has sent the last reminder I’ve copied to ALL of the registrants I had selected and send messages to. Meaning all registrants for two or more classes receive the same e-mail message despite my being extremely careful that I have the correct subject line and correct class name and date copied before I hit ‘Send’. (For example the second reminder email goes to the first and second group if I do 2 back to back)
What is happening to cause this and can the issue be corrected?
Running latest EE4, latest wordpress. Have been using EE since early days of EE3.
What’s happening is you’re making edits to the email’s template before the first batch gets sent out. Since the emails haven’t been sent out yet, that first batch will end up using the template that has the edits you’ve made intended for the second batch.
You could either:
a) wait until the first batch is sent before making any edits to the template (check the Messages Activity page, it will show when they’ve been sent)
or
b) have a few different custom templates that you can select from when sending reminders for different events, instead of re-editing and reusing the Global template each time
