Hi, We use Paypal Standard for payment. I am still testing but we need to start selling tickets tomorrow. I have two problems maybe they are both related.

First when Paypal redirects to confirmation page, we see a security browser message that might scare off users. How can I get rid of that message without having to go SSL? Here is the message on Firefox:

Although this page is encrypted, the information you have entered is to be sent over an unencrypted connection and could easily be read by a third party. Are you sure you want to continue sending this information?

Second problem is that the page does not load. URL shows the right address with additional data sent by paypal but we get a blank page. Here is the url:
http://www.sommetvs.com/inscription/inscription-completee-merci/?r_id=1-2814a8d808745&type=paypal

Thank you!

Hi Sylvain,

Can you check that ‘Force HTTPS on Return URL’ is NOT checked within

Event Espresso -> Payment Settings -> Paypal Settings.

If it is, un-check it save the settings. The Retest.

Reg. the blank page.

Can you tell me change shortcode is on this page please?

Force HTTPS was not checked. Shortcode is [ESPRESSO_PAYMENTS].

Hi Sylvain,

How can I get rid of that message without having to go SSL?

As you may have noticed, some browsers will display the warning the message and others will not. As far as I know the only way to avoid that message is by installing an SSL certificate and setting the return page to be secured.

It looks like the registration with the ID of 1-2814a8d808745 has been deleted. Can you verify?

Yes you are right it has been deleted. Sorry for that. Use 1-5314e3b34ef8a instead for testing.

Hi Sylvain,

This looks to be working from here:

I installed a SSL certificate and the two problems are solved. I have to check «Force HTTPS» option or I still get the warning. Now what happens is I get returned to the wrong page after payment. Instead of going to the thank you page it is going back to the page where it was just before PayPal. I still see the paypal button as if I still need to pay but the registration is complete. I receive all emails and confirmations. My thank you page is using [ESPRESSO_PAYMENTS].

Hi Sylvain,

Is it saying the payment is complete or incomplete when it returns back from PayPal? The first thing to check is to make sure that you have the IPN setting enabled in the PayPal account. There is more troubleshooting info here:

Here is a link to the page I get after transaction: https://www.sommetvs.com/?page_id=5252&r_id=1-5317485b56f13&type=paypal

That’s weird! I just realized that the link I just gave you goes to the right page. However it still goes to the wrong page when sent by PayPal. I just copied the url I get after transaction which is: https://www.sommetvs.com/?page_id=5252&r_id=1-5317485b56f13&type=paypal

Then if I just paste this url in my address bar it resolves to:https://www.sommetvs.com/inscription/inscription-completee-merci/?r_id=1-5317485b56f13&type=paypal

Hope this helps!

Hi Sylvain,

https://www.sommetvs.com/?page_id=5252

Is the default URL for

https://www.sommetvs.com/inscription/inscription-completee-merci/

You mention this this page contains the [ESPRESSO_PAYMENTS] shortcode which would be the correct page, by default the [ESPRESSO_PAYMENTS] shortcode is within the thank-you page and is the page you are sent to after the payment has been made to complete the registration within Event Espresso.

Can you explain the issue you are currently seeing?
Possible adding a screenshot illustrate?

Yeah I knew that both url’s were for the same page. But still if it is sent automatically after PayPal payment it does not resolve and if I just paste it in address bar it does resolve. I can’t figure out why. Is there a way you can make a test by yourself? http://www.sommetvs.com/inscription/inscription-sommet-economique-vaudreuil-soulanges-2014/?ee=1

I can give you a promo code for testing if you send me a private message.

Can you log into your PayPal account and make sure there is not an auto return url page set there in the PayPal payment option settings?
