Braintree payment rejected

Hi there,

I’m currently testing Braintree as a payment gateway (it’ll be our only payment option), but two strange things happen:

– When I use the “gateway rejected – fraud” credit card number it the payment processes successfully and is now “settling” in Braintree. Should this payment not be rejected by the gateway immediately?

– When I use an unverified CVV the Payment Successful alert shows briefly before I see the rejected: cvv alert. Is there an issue with the timing of alerts?

The status used by EE is based on the response sent back from Braintree so its them that have set the payment as ‘submitted_for_settlement’ and ‘settled’ etc.

I’ll check in with our developers on the expected behavior for those transactions.

Thank you for reporting this, I can reproduce this locally and have created a ticket to investigate further.

Hi Tony, thanks for following up. I can confirm the first point was a setting around fraud detection in Braintree.

Another issue I’ve noticed is that after a failure the Information Regarding your Payment box disappears and you need to re-click the payment method (which still has a selected radio button) in order to get the box and payment fields to re-appear.

Thanks for looking into the popups! Glad you guys could recreate it.
