Good morning,

Noticed an unusual behavior this morning when trying to post an event. Creating a new event opens the text editor in text mode, and I can enter text and html here. However, if I switch to the visual editor mode everything disappears and I can no longer view anything, no text, no images nothing. If I switch back to the text editor, the text box still remains empty. This same behavior happens if I attempt to edit an existing event: editor opens in text mode and I can see the text and html, if I switch to visual mode it disappears completely and switching back to text mode does not resolve the issue.

I updated to WordPress 4.8.1 last Saturday, could this upgrade be the cause of the issue?

Thanks

Tony

Hi there,

It’s more likely to be a plugin conflict issue than WP 4.8.1, support all run multiple test sites using the latest version of WordPress and have not had an issue.

Are you running the latest version of Event Espresso (4.9.45.p)?

We have steps for troubleshooting theme and plugin conflicts posted here:

I had the same problem. I deactivated every plugin and found out JetPack is causing this issue as well. That said, after I deactivate it, I am getting this error on top of the editor: Failed to load content css: http://www.specialneedsexpos.com/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php/?action=dynamic_styles

A lot of people use JetPack….you guys should work on a fix ASAP.

Please let me know what that other error is.

Hello, I was experiencing the same issue. I found an issue with the activation of JetPack. This causes the same issue where you cannot edit events. You guys should work on a fix as many people use JetPack. That said, I now have two other issues.

1. 2017-11-19T11:00:00-04:00 11:00 am – This is showing up on all of my event pages under the page title (front end). How do I get rid of it?

2. Failed to load content css: http://www.specialneedsexpos.com/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php/?action=dynamic_styles – This shows up every time I load a page in EE on the back end.

I’ve been having this problem too. So frustrating. Jetpack was my plugin problem, everything works fine now without this activated.

Tony, you were right. I went through a deactivated all plug-ins on the site, one by one. Turns out Jetpack was causing the issue. Once I disabled it, the event editor started behaving normally again.
So if you want to investigate or file a bug report, we are running
Wordpress 4.8.1
Jetpack 5.2.1 (Free plan)
Event Espresso 4.9.45p
Event Espresso Calendar 3.2.10p

This impacts our site as we are using Jetpacks contact forms as a lead generator for events and parties.

Hi guys,

I had the same issue just noticed this morning. Disable Jetpack and seems to be OK.

EE Version 4.9.45.p
Jetpack Version 5.2.1
WP 4.8.1

Thanks, Derek

Hi everyone,

It turns out this is an issue JetPack are aware of, it not only causes problems with EE but other plugins:

https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/issues/7598

Its an issue with how JetPack are loading assets that they will need to fix.

Hi everyone,

The latest version of Jetpack has a number of reports where the tinyMCE editor is broken with the Contact form module activated:

https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/issues/7598
https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/issues/7600
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/5-2-breaks-text-and-tinymce-widgets/#post-9379121

You’ll find some workarounds in the above issue reports, or you can deactivate the contact form module within JetPack’s Debug > Access the full list of Jetpack modules available on your site page. They show how to get that page here:

https://jetpack.com/support/activate-deactivate-features/
