Is there an EE4 add-on or a better search plugin you recommend that will show better search results for EE4 events listings?

We don’t have an add-on for this and I’m not aware of any 3rd party add-ons for it.
As you looking to search events in the admin or frontend?

In front end. Something that will display better search results and not expired events. I thought I recall seeing a thread on a recommendation for Relevanssi search.

Sure, Relevannsi is an option.
We don’t really have a ‘recommended’ search plugin as we don’t explicitly integrate with any, so it’s going to depend on the specific of what you want to do with the search.
